Jets seeking an older, more mature and experienced quarterback

NEW YORK — A week ago Sunday afternoon the New York Jets were eliminated from playoff contention when they lost to the Miami Dolphins, but back in August with a mere month left before the season started the New York Jets signed Quarterback Brett Favre.

The aging Quarterback had recently come out of retirement and was looking for a place to play. He played an okay season with the Jets that culminated with them not making the post season. With the Jets coming so close to a playoff birth, the ownership figured that there was only one logical option for next season.

“We just need to go older,” said owner Woody Johnson. “Much older. It only makes sense that, the older we get the better we are, haven’t you ever heard the expression ‘things get better with age?’ If we can apply that dynamic here … boom, Super Bowl champs.”

When a reporter for SSNN asked who the QB would be Johnson had this to say: “We will have a Quarterback competition come training camp. Right now it looks like Y.A. Tittle and Joe Namath are the two contenders. We thought about asking John Elway to come try out, but at the young age of 48 we decided he wasn’t mature enough, and besides, all that medicine that he takes to keep himself young is not helping his cause.”

The only concern Johnson expressed about signing either of the two older players was: “What if Metamucil becomes a banned substance?”

When asked about the coaching situation Johnson simply replied “I don’t want to give to much away, but we’re talking to a special someone who has the Super Bowl trophy named after them, but that’s all I can say at this time”.
