Vick pleads guilty, sentenced to four years as Lions QB

DETROIT, MI — Michael Vick flew to Virginia this week and plead guilty to state charges of dogfighting. Vick struck a deal in which he’ll not have to face additional jail time. Instead, Vick has been sentenced by a judge to be quarterback of the Detroit Lions for the next four years. “We will obviously be appealing this penalty,” said a statement from Vick’s attorneys. “This is clearly a case of cruel

and unusual punishment. No human being should be forced to quarterback the Lions, no matter ho much horrible stuff they have done in the past.” Although Vick is not pleased about the deal, Lions management is excited. “Michael Vick will be a welcome addition to our squad,” said head coach Rod Marinelli. “We are going to offer him a long term deal, probably in the ten- to twelve-yeart range. Guaranteed money, of course. With a guy like that, you have to lock him up.”
