There are a lot of articles out there about how people can use Twitter.com to promote their website and blog. Some have great methods, while others are ho-hum.

One way that we at SSNN are using twitter to promote our site and engage our readership is called GroupWrite. Here’s how it works:

Basically, what we do is we post a “headline” for a story. We’ll post it to the site, for our regular readers, but we’ll also post it to twitter (Our username is @serioussports). Then, our followers and others will pepper us with submissions, which we’ll then use for the article that ultimately comes out.

Anyone who submits an idea gets their name in the piece (we link their @twitterid to their twitter homepage). It’s a really cool way of engaging people. Also, the best thing about the whole endeavor is that a lot of people come up with HILARIOUS ideas that we never would have thought of. Since we can’t really sit around all day and just bounce around ideas, we’re using twitter to simulate it, and it’s been great.

We hope that a lot of other websites start this; there’s a ton of talented people out there who can really add to the base of work and they’re just itching for a chance to be heard.

Thanks for participating,

SSNN Staff
