PHILADELPHIA, PA — Sunday’s post-game presser following the Philadelphia Eagles’ 13-13 tie was a shocking one in Philly, to be sure, with almost all of the action centered around quarterback Donovan McNabb.

First came the stunning admission by McNabb that he did not know that NFL games were legally allowed to end in ties. Then came an even more stunning announcement — that McNabb may be considering a run for President of the United States in 2012.

While many would shun a presidential candidate who does not know something as seemingly obvious as the fact that an NFL game could end in a tie, McNabb does not seem to be deterred.

“I’m like, OK, God, if there is an open door for me somewhere, this is what I always pray, I’m like, don’t let me miss the open door,” McNabb said. “And if there is an open door in ‘12 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I’ll plow through that door.”

McNabb claims that he already knows that Africa is indeed a continent and not a country, and says that he can learn important things like the fact that football games can end in ties before his potential Presidential run.

Besides, he says, this was a simple case of “gotcha journalism” from the “liberal media elite.”

“This is just another example of the MSM trying some ‘gotcha journalism,’” McNabb said. “It’s an off-handed comment that I made in a press conference that is being blown totally out of proportion by the liberal media elite. Of course I know that NFL football games can end in ties!”

McNabb said that there have been many rulings in NFL history that he’s aware of that have been controversial, and that it’s possible that he just became slightly confused about the rules because he knows about so many different rulings in NFL history.

However, when pressed, McNabb struggled to come up with a ruling.

“Well, let’s see,” McNabb said. “There’s ― of course in the great history of America there have been rulings that there’s never going to be absolute consensus by every American, and there are those issues, again, like Roe v. Wade, where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So, you know, going through the history of America, there would be others but ….”
