Furious Palin demands recount after learning about “Golden State” while watching NBA

WASILLA, AK — A furious Sarah Palin is phoning Republican attorneys this morning and demanding a recount after learning that an entire state’s votes may not have been counted in last week’s election. Palin held a hasty press conference Saturday morning to explain the issues.

“As is our custom on Friday nights, Todd and I flipped on the west coast NBA games after we got the kids to bed,” Palin told the assembled reporters. “We were so excited to see that it was the Memphis Grizzlies playing–I love anything with Grizzlies. But then something really unusual happened. I realized that they were playing a team called the Warriors, from Golden State. Well, I immediately smelled a rat.”

According to Palin, she immediately went to check her travel schedule from the campaign, as well as the electoral results.

“This is amazing, and this is a bit embarrassing to say, but it looks like we totally forgot about Golden in the most recent election,” Palin said. “I did not campaign in Golden even one time, and in looking at the electoral results, I think this is an absolute travesty. I mean, the citizens of Golden are good, hard-working people; I feel awful that their votes were not counted. We should do a recount so that all the citizens of Golden State are heard.”

McCain and Palin lost to Obama and Biden with an electoral count of 364-174. However, Palin believes that if Golden State’s votes are counted, it could change the election.

“I’m going to have to plead ignorance here, I don’t know how many electoral votes Golden State has,” Palin said. “But who knows … it’s bigger than California, then it might have the 91 electoral votes that we need to vault us into the lead. The citizens of Golden State can carry us to victory. This thing ain’t over yet.”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
