Joe Buck walking around telling people about the significance of mundane events

LOS ANGELES and PHILADELPHIA — Fox baseball announcer Joe Buck, overtaken with excitement about the National League Championship Series, has taken to describing the immense importance of ordinary events to anyone who will listen.

“Of all the hamburgers you’ve ever made in your life, this one was the most important,” Buck said, in response to receiving a relatively ordinary hamburger recently at a McDonald’s in Pasadena. “The stakes

have never been higher for you, and you came through with flying colors, because you are a champion.”

The clerk, who simply served the hamburger (and had nothing to do with its production), rolled her eyes and moved toward the next customer.

Buck has not limited his superlatives to others. Recently, he emerged from a restroom, stating to nobody in particular, “I have taken thousands of dumps in my life, but that one was the biggest.”
