HARRISBURG, PA — In unfortunate news that is striking at an inopportune time, the Barack Obama campaign has reported that Joe Biden will miss 7-10 days with a high ankle sprain.

According to a spokesperson, Biden sustained the injury stepping off a podium, and will not be able to travel or speak until Monday of next week at the earliest.

“Unfortunately, this injury comes at a critical time,” said the campaign spokesperson. “But Joe Biden is a resilient, tough Senator, and he’ll be back–that much is for sure. But you know as well as I do that high ankle sprains are tough injuries and cannot be rushed.”

Biden will wear a walking boot for a few days and then test the ankle on Friday, but is not expected to rejoin the campaign before Nov. 4, election day.

“Joe has a career to think about,” said the spokesperson. “The good people of Delaware are relying on him to represent them. So he needs to be sure that he’s not going to do anything stupid and risk his future–even if the Presidency is on the line.”
