Jeter preparing for October by buying tickets online

NEW YORK — Derek Jeter is ready for October, the month that he normally spends very much involved with the MLB Playoffs.

“This year, October is a little different for me,” Jeter said. “Instead of getting free tickets for all of my family and friends for the playoffs, I have to buy them online. It’s a little weird.”

Jeter said that specifically he’s spending an awful lot of time and money bidding on ALCS and World Series tickets.

“I really hope that we make it to the World Series this year,” Jeter said. “It’s going to be hard, since we’re not in the playoffs at all, but you never know. That’s why they play the games.”

Jeter said he’s bid on a number of eBay auctions and is perusing sites like StubHub and other brokers in hopes of getting a set of eight seats that are together.

“I never really realized how much these playoff tickets go for,” Jeter said. “I mean, it’s really expensive. I can’t do this every year. Next year I hope we just make the playoffs, so I don’t have to pay for them myself.”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
