Palin hoping for a lot of snow machine racing questions at VP debate

WASILLA, AK — Vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is apparently blowing off debate prep session after debate prep session, allegedly pinning her hopes on getting a lot of questions about snowmobile racing.

“I feel like I have a good handle on what the American people want to know about,” Palin said. “And that is clearly going to be snow machine racing, right? People don’t care about the mortgage crisis, or foreign policy, or experience — at least not any of the people that I talk to. The people that I talk to care about the Alaska Open Snow Machine Championships that are coming up next week.”

Palin’s husband Todd is a world class snow machine racer, having won the Tesoro Iron Dog Snowmachine Championships four times, including as recently as 2007. Sarah Palin is a huge snowmachine racing fan — something she plans on putting on display next week.

“I really hope that they first question that they ask me is about snow mobile racing,” Palin said. “Then I can immediately correct them and let them know that it’s actually called snow machine racing. That’ll show them.”

According to democratic officials, candidate Joe Biden is generally unconcerned about there being a lot of snow machine questions in the debate.

“Senator Biden is willing to take questions on all matters of interest that are important to the American people,” said a spokesperson close to the Obama campaign. “If those matters include some level of sports, then that’s fine. But he’s hopeful that the discourse of the debate remains high, and that the level of questions reflect the challenges of these historic times.”

Palin, worried about the same course of events, said she even took the liberty of sending a few sample questions over to the debate moderators.

“I was afraid that they don’t know enough about the exciting sport of snow machine racing to ask good, insightful questions about it, so I sent them some suggestions,” Palin said. “I hope that doesn’t seem to presumptive — that’s the last thing that I’d ever want to be.”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
