SOMEWHERE IN THE SOUTHERN PART OF THE UNITED STATES–ESPN’s College Gameday analyst Lee Corso’s signature head gear promotion to end each College Gameday broadcast took a morbid turn Saturday, when while previewing the Alabama-Clemson game Corso shocked the world and donned Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban’s bloody and severed head and proclaimed the Tide would upset the ninth ranked tigers »”>Clemson Tigers.

The stadium was roaring with passionate college football fans until Corso reached into his famous head gear case and pulled out the bloody head, dripping with fluid and death. The roar of the fans turned completely silent as Corso made his bold prediction, but not because of the pick.

“Everything was going great,” fellow analyst Kirk Herbstreit stated. “We figured this was going to be a great way to kick off the 2008 season. Lee kept saying this was going to be a moment nobody would forget. I figured he was talking about the Army Parachute Team skydiving in with the head gear. Unbeknownst to all of us, he actually meant that he’d be putting Nick Saban’s actual head on his own and then displaying it on a pike beside the desk for the rest of the day.”

Fellow commentator and host of ESPN’s College Gameday Rece Davis had more to say.

“We all knew Lee Corso had lost a few marbles over the years but nobody could have predicted this. It all started when he made us start calling him ‘coach’ even thought he hadn’t coached since Joe Paterno was at Brown,” Davis said. “Then he started coming up with these crazy predictions where he would put on the winning teams’ mascot head. I guess to him, decapitating the head coach was the natural progression.”

It’s not clear how Corso obtained Saban’s head, though it is indeed believed that Corso was the one who cut off Saban’s head, likely using a rusty butter knife and his bare hands. According to Herbstreit, Corso has claimed that he’s been “decapitating men for years” and that he is “known throughout the western United States for his stunning ability to end a man’s life.”

Corso was dragged off the stage kicking and screaming “today is the day!” and “who’s the most powerful coach now?” As of press time, SSNN has learned Corso has been turned over to the Atlanta Psychiatric Ward for predicting Michigan was really going to beat Utah.
