Sports reporter writes column blasting himself after referring to himself in third person

GAINESVILLE, FL — Local sports reporter John Trevor wrote a lengthy column absolutely blasting himself for a recent series of comments that he made in which he referred to himself in the third person.

In a column entitled “Who does John Trevor think he is?” Trevor really tore himself a new one for his “holier-than-thou attitude,” “lack of team play,” and “completely egocentric behavior.”

Trevor is specifically referring to a series of comments he made in an email string in which he praised “Ol’ JT” for his cleverness and wit in a recent column about University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.

“John Trevor has really let the fame go to his head,” Trevor wrote. “At one point in time, John Trevor was just a hard-working man, trying to eke out a living and take care of his family. But now John Trevor has had some success with his award-winning high school football coverage, and John Trevor has forgotten where he came from. Hopefully, he’ll remember soon.”

In his brutal bashing of himself, which appeared in the Friday paper, Trevor called upon himself to be suspended for a period of time while he “re-assesses the things that originally made John Trevor great.”

“All great individuals occasionally lose their course,” Trevor said. “That’s just part of the endeavor. John Trevor has lost his course.

“Can he find it again? Who knows. But John Trevor will tell you this much: It’s worth it for us to find out.”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
