GREEN BAY, WI — After watching a reassuringly average performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, six year-old Green Bay resident Justin Fitchburg asked new Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to sign his Brett Favre jersey.
“I don’t get too many fans asking for my autograph,” said a dejected Rodgers. “So I was a little surprised when I walked into the parking lot and this kid handed me a jersey and asked if I would sign it. Then I noticed it wasn’t my jersey, that it was a Favre jersey. But I figured, ‘What the hey, why not?’”
Rodgers said he’d waited a long time for his first chance to take a meaningful autograph request, and that it was a lot different than practice.
“I have been taking practice autograph requests for about four years now. Maybe longer, I’m not sure – I can’t remember exactly when I started,” Rodgers said. “But it’s nothing like taking a real autograph request. Everything just moves so much faster once it’s for real. I found myself holding the pen and feeling like I’d never signed my name before.”
According to SSNN sources, Rodgers wrote, “Best wishes, Aaron Rodgers, QB,” which is how he’s been signing his name recently. Fitchburg was apparently unaware of his potentially offensive actions.
