Paul impresses with genuine interest in other cultures during Olympics

BEIJING, CHINA — Though Chris Paul’s performance on the basketball court was less than spectacular during the Olympic games, but his coaches and teammates from the “Redeem Team” have praised him for the way he embraced the Olympic experience.

“I’m really proud of Chris for the way he approached the Olympics,” said USA basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski. “Not in terms of the way he played – that was actually pretty disappointing. But he really went out of his way to learn about the nature of different cultures and countries, and I’m really proud of him.”

Krzyzewski said that Paul has been out almost every night, socializing with young women from other nations, really trying to embrace their culture.

“Two nights ago, he was out very late doing some real learning about the culture of Sweden,” Krzyzewski said. “He found these three young ladies from the Swedish diving team that were wonderful teachers, I guess, and really embraced the opportunity.

“And then yesterday I saw him really trying to learn a lot about the culture of Brazil from some young ladies on their synchronized swimming team. He missed a practice, sure, but he’s really trying to better himself as a person, which I think is almost more important.”

Teammates agreed that Paul has been immersed in a cultural experience, though not all shared Krzyzewski’s enthusiasm for the young point guard’s behavior.

“I just think it’s a pretty ridiculous double standard, you know?” forward Carmelo Anthony told SSNN. “The littlest misstep I take – on or off the court – is a big story, and the headline is about how I let everybody down. Meanwhile the fucking Golden Boy Chris Paul is knee deep in foreign pussy, and Coach calls it a ‘critical character-building experience?’

“When I miss practice I’m a thug who’s been spending too much time around AI – I mean, what’s up with that?”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
