Dodgers to play two outfielders
LOS ANGELES — Citing the “egregiously bad defense and lackluster effort” that Manny Ramirez brings to the table, the Los Angeles Dodgers have decided that they’ll only be playing Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier in the outfield on a daily basis, keeping new acquisition Manny Ramirez on the bench while the team is in the field. “Manny’s defense is so bad we just thought we’d go with two guys manning the outfield,” said manager Joe Torre. “Kempy and Andre can cover the outfield for us, I think. I mean, that’s what they’d be doing anyway, so at least we’ll get Manny out of their way.” When informed that a major league team must field 9 players at all times, Torre said that they would get around that rule by letting Manny Ramirez play “rover” or “short center.”
