Venus and Serena Williams inspirational for six-foot tall African-American multi-millionaire women everywhere

WIMBLEDON — As Venus and Serena Williams advanced to the finals of Wimbledon’s womens singles to play each other for the third time, Candace Parker took note.

“Venus and Serena are a real inspiration to me,” Parker said. “As an extremely tall, extremely rich African-American woman, there are not a lot of people to look up to. Venus and Serena have demonstrated for years exactly how women in our position should behave, and they have provided an invaluable service for which they should be recognized.”

The Williams sisters, each of whom has made many millions of dollars through tennis, endorsements, and other business endeavors, sympathize with the tough road that Parker faces.

“It’s hard,” Venus said. “Candace and many other women like her will face a very difficult course. She will have to learn to cope with the pressure of having to manage a lot of money, getting a lot of attention, and having to play sports for her whole career. It’s really hard and I think that although Serena and I have made it look so easy, she shouldn’t think it will be that way for her.”

Serena agreed. “Take shopping for example,” she said. “I used to just go out and spend like 20 grand a day shopping, but now I try and limit it to, like, 100 grand a week. You know what I mean? I had to learn that on my own. There was no textbook. But now, think about how many women can benefit from our experience and be better off because of it.”

As the sisters prepare for Centre Court, they are starting to consider their place in history.

“I wouldn’t compare us to Rosa Parks,” Venus said. “I mean, there is only one Rosa Parks. But I would say we could be compared to, like, a Sacagawea. Except instead of exploring the West with Mark and Lewis, we are exploring the rigors of modern American life.”

Serena agreed.

“Yeah, Sacagawea could be a pretty good comparison. She may not even be exceptional enough, though. Maybe someone even a little more inspirational, like Michelle Obama.”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
