NEW YORK CITY, NY — In an exclusive interview, recently-fired New York Mets’ manager Willie Randolph told SSNN that he was absolutely stunned to see that when sun went down yesterday, it became dark.
“So yesterday night, the sun goes down – and wouldn’t you know, it became extremely dark outside,” Randolph said. “Frankly, I am stunned. I had no idea that this was going to be the case, it was totally unexpected, and I had no warning.”
Randolph went on to say that he has repeatedly been shocked by the events of the past week, beginning with his 3:15 A.M. firing on Tuesday morning. Randolph’s dismissal came after he “led” the team to one of the biggest collapses in baseball’s history down the stretch of the 2007 season, then followed by leading a talented, high payroll to a terrible start this season.
“The world is just not as it seems this week,” Randolph said. “Things are apparently happening for no reason and with no foresight. I am disgusted with the way both the Mets and God have handled these situations. I am Willie’s feeling of profound disappointment.”
Reached for comment on Randolph’s confusion, Mets’ GM Omar Minaya had little sympathy for his former employee.
“Surprised? No, no – Willie didn’t see the Phillies coming last year, did he?” Minaya pointed out. “The guy couldn’t anticipate hitting water after jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge.”
