Mayor of New Orleans didn’t know Hornets were in playoffs

NEW ORLEANS, LA — New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin was both thrilled and stunned Tuesday when, while channel surfing, he stumbled across the New Orleans Hornets playing a basketball game.

“I love watching my Hornets,” Nagin said. “At first, I was sure it was some sort of exhibition game – like they were playing the Harlem Globetrotters to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief, or something. Then, when I saw they were playing the Spurs, I thought maybe it was a summer league game or something. But after like 15 minutes, it dawned on me – the Hornets are still alive in the playoffs!!?!”

Nagin told SSNN that he “honestly had no idea that the Hornets were any good, at all.”
