‘Big Shot Bob’ still hitting game-winners in practice

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Though it’s been a disappointing season for Spurs forward Robert Horry, teammates insist they still have all the faith in the world in the veteran.

Horry has been limited by injury this year and is only averaging 2.3 points in just over 12 minutes per game.

“Sure, he’s struggled a little this year, but so has my rap career,” said Spurs point guard Tony Parker. “That doesn’t mean either of them is finished.”

Tim Duncan agreed with Parker, calling Horry an essential part of the team.

“When we’re going five-on-five in practice and the game’s close, you know Big Shot Bob’s getting the last shot,” Duncan said. “He nailed a huge three-pointer in the Grey v. White game just yesterday. It was an absolute dagger.”

Duncan added that it would be nice for Horry to bump his scoring average to the 5 or 6 point per game area, but that the team will take what it can get.

“[Horry is] still the first pick in any practice pick-up game,” Duncan said. “If that’s all we can get from him, that’s fine with me. Scoring in games that count is overrated, anyway.”
