NEW YORK, NY — Former ESPN anchor and current MSNBC pundit Keith Olbermann thinks it is time people noticed how extraordinary of a life he has led.
Sources close to the sarcastic journalist told SSNN on Monday that Olbermann has been talking with executives of E! Entertainment Television. His goal is to convince them to air an hour-long chronicle of what he calls “49 years of excellence” on the channel’s popular biography program, True Hollywood Story.
Olbermann addressed the topic on his latest blog posting on MSNBC.com, writing, “I feel I would be doing the human race a huge injustice if I didn’t at least make an effort to show the world how witty and, at the same time, undeniably sexy I have been for nearly a half century now. I also want the opportunity to clear the air regarding rumors that suggest I quit my job at ESPN because Dan Patrick and I had a falling-out. On the contrary, I left because the so-called ‘Worldwide Leader in Sports‘ is home to some of the ugliest people I have ever seen. Spend enough time around uggos, and… well, I think you know what can happen. So I got out while I still could.”
In pushing for what seems to be a pompous and profit-generating self-promotion rather than life story, the sports talking head turned political mud-slinger went on to say that, once finished, his exploits should be broadcast not on E!, but rather on pay-per-view television, requiring viewers to pay a fee of nearly $50 to tune in.
“Look, Keith Olbermann is a privilege, and you have to pay for some privileges,” Olbermann said, by way of defending his plan. “It’s the American way. I’m trying to do this country a service. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.”
