Miami parade to honor Giants, ‘72 Dolphins

MIAMI, FL — The Miami Department of City Planning has announced that on Friday, February 8 at noon there will be a parade – formally the “Reebok Still Perfect Parade” – to celebrate the New York Giants’ Super Bowl win and the continuing, unmatched perfection of the 1972 Dolphins.

Unlike the New York parade and ultimately canceled Boston parade, the planning for Miami’s celebration did not begin until Monday.

“We got a huge number of calls from residents asking if and when the parade would be held,” said Miami spokesperson Stacy Legacy. “At first we rejected the idea, since the Dolphins didn’t actually win anything; but after the 300th call we started to reconsider. Plus, so many people thought this year’s team deserved a parade after they managed to beat the Ravens, so this can really be for them too.”

The Parade will feature players from this year’s World Champion New York Giants, the ‘72 Dolphins and several players from this year’s Dolphins squad. In exchange for picking up the cost of police overtime, Reebok received naming rights for the parade.

“This is a great honor,” Eli Manning told SSNN. “It’s going to be great to share this success with a city that we like to think of as the sixth borough of New York.”

Manning’s older brother Peyton and father Archie will also be on hand – though for the filming of a commercial, not the parade itself.
