LOUISVILLE, KY — When it comes to Louisville football, loyalties run deep. UofL fan Dave McConnell and his wife, Lynn, left the Louisville-Pittsburgh game early in the fourth quarter Saturday so they could be home in time to watch the ending of the popular A&E show “Flip This House.” After Pittsburgh scored a field goal with 10:41 left in the game to pull within 7 points, Lynn motioned to her husband that it was time to go. Dave McConnell excitedly complied.
“I was waiting for Lynn to give me the go-ahead because I couldn’t stand not knowing whether Ginger (a real estate agent on “Flip This House“) was able to sell that ugly house or not,” said Dave McConnell, a season-ticket holder who has yet to see an opening kickoff this year. “Luckily, she was able to overcome some sticky contractors and got a great deal from a lovely couple.”
Lynn McConnell said they missed the original episode due to “all of those tornado warning shows” on October 18.
“When we (Louisville) pulled away early in the fourth (quarter), I knew we needed to beat the traffic and get home for the show,” she said. “It worked out perfectly. We totally won the game, right?”
Louisville defeated Pittsburgh 24-17 after Cardinals cornerback Rod Council recovered a fumble by Panthers running back LeShean McCoy at the Cardinals’ 3-yard line with 1:08 left on the clock.
