Romo dentist appointment comes at bad time for Cowboys

DALLAS, TX — An irate Wade Phillips, barely able to hold his tongue, told assembled media that Tony Romo’s three-hour dental appointment Friday “could have had better timing.”

“In general, I would like to think that we can schedule these appointments for times other than two days before the biggest game this franchise has had in the last 12 years,” Phillips said. “I mean, Tony is sort of a free spirit, but come on, man – we need you at practice.”

Romo was in no pain from his teeth, and simply went in for a cleaning, a polish, and some minor cosmetic work.

“I didn’t NEED to go today,” Romo told reporters. “But my dentist gets booked up like six months in advance, and if I had to reschedule, it’d be forever before I could get in there again. So I figured, let’s just knock it out today.”

Romo has been criticized recently for not focusing enough on the matters at hand, specifically the team’s playoff game against the Giants on Sunday. He has been photographed globetrotting with girlfriend Jessica Simpson, recently on a quick sojourn to Cabo San Lucas.

The Cowboys’ second-string quarterback – whoever the hell that is – took the snaps in practice Friday.

“I am glad I was able to hit the dentist this AM and knock this off my to-do list,” Romo said. “Now the only two things left on there are to pick up some picture frames at Target, and bitch Eli Manning and company all over the field. Toodles!”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
