Curlin celebrates HotY award in style

LEXINGTON, KY — Curlin, the three-year-old colt who was recently named Horse of the Year, celebrated his award in style this weekend by sticking it to three-year-old filly Indian Blessing.

“Curlin is the horse of the year,” said handler Robert D’Amico. “So whatever Curlin wants, Curlin gets. Curlin is in demand, too, so it’s not like we had to talk Indian Blessing into it. She was down.”

The tryst took place Saturday night, in Curlin’s stable.

“Curlin likes home games, if you know what I’m saying,” D’Amico said. “It’s his machismo. The same quality that makes him Horse of the Year is what allows him to bang fillies left and right.”

The romantic encounter took place before 30 human onlookers. It is not known if there will be a future rendezvous.

“Curlin, he… how shall I put this delicately… he doesn’t really like to dip his pen in the same ink twice, if you read me,” D’Amico said. “He believes in free love. And, for the record, so do I.”

1. Best laugh I’ve had all day. I’m sure some people ignorant of horse racing issues would buy into this. For their genit - Curlin is 4 and Indian Blessing is 3, and they really don’t start breeding until after horses have been retired from racing and usually and smartly don’t breed before Valentine’s Day.
