Weis furious about Irish missing out on BCS

SOUTH BEND, IN — In a college football season that couldn’t get any crazier, the BCS has confirmed that Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis filed a formal complaint regarding the Irish not being invited to a BCS bowl.

“It would be an understatement to say we were a little confused when we read Charlie’s letter,” BCS coordinator Mike Slive told SSNN. “We thought a 3-9 record spoke for itself, but obviously Charlie felt differently.”

Despite leading the Irish to the worst season in school history, the coach believes his young squad belonged in a major postseason game. Weis argued that Notre Dame has routinely received bowl invitations they may not have deserved.

“Just off the top of my head, I know the Irish didn’t deserve to make the Fiesta in 2001, and we had no business in the Sugar last year,” Weis told a group of reporters. “Despite our record, we’re a solid ball club. Our winning streak proves that.”

Weis refused to concede his argument, even after reporters pointed out that NCAA rules do not allow three-win teams to play in any bowl, much less one of the BCS games. League rules stipulate that a team must win six games to become bowl eligible.

“We’re Notre fucking Dame,” Weis proclaimed, sneering derisively at the media gathering. “You tell me the last time a Notre Dame team won their last three games and didn’t go to a bowl!”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
