HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Texans’ coaching staff is crossing its fingers that Mario Williams will play “out of his mind” Sunday, when the Texans take on Vince Young and the Titans. “I know it’s a long shot, but Mario would really help us out if he had the game of his life this weekend,” Texans head coach Gary Kubiak told SSNN. “We’re even thinking about using him at tight end and maybe fullback, just to increase his chances of contributing.” Despite an impressive array of physical tools, Williams has disappointed fans and Texans brass in his first two seasons. Texans’ fans were shocked when the team chose Williams over hometown hero Vince Young in the 2006 NFL Draft, and Williams’ relatively unimpressive play has done little to silence the doubters. “Last season when Vince came to town, he dominated us,” Texans’ defensive coordinator Richard Smith said. “This year, we’re praying Mario can put up monster numbers. I’m talking 4 or 5 sacks and multiple interceptions. Throw in some touchdowns, too.”
