NEW YORK CITY, NY — In a move designed to attract more Heisman voters, Florida QB Tim Tebow is nearing the end of a long jog to the Heisman ceremonies from Gainesville, Florida.

“It’s just a little something I wanted the voters to think about,” Tebow told reporters several hours before his Thursday night departure. “The distance is just over a thousand miles. I’m gonna leave tonight and won’t stop until I get to my hotel in New York early Saturday afternoon.”

According to Florida Head Coach Urban Meyer, Tebow has been running in a perfectly straight line – regardless of obstacles, much as he does on the football field. In a remarkable second season, Tebow became the first player in NCAA history to run and pass for at least twenty touchdowns in a single season.

“We had AAA draw up routes for Tim – you know, to get him to New York as quickly as possible by major roads. But he said that’s not his style,” Meyer told SSNN. “Tim only knows one way to run, and that’s full steam ahead, straight through whatever gets in his way.”

Should Tebow take home the illustrious honor, he would become the first sophomore in history to win the award. The Heisman ceremonies are scheduled to take place at the Hilton New York on Saturday evening. While many consider Tebow to be the Heisman favorite, the Florida signal caller isn’t taking any chances.

“McFadden is a beast. He’s probably the best runner I’ve ever seen. I’m hoping that running from Florida to New York shows the voters just how much I want this award,” Tebow told SSNN from the road outside Philadelphia early Saturday. “So far the hardest part was walking on water across the Chesapeake Bay. From here I don’t anticipate any issues. The biggest building I’ll have to smash through between here and the Hilton is just an industrial warehouse in Jersey City – I could do that without my pads and helmet.”
