Sixers fire GM after Chairman awakes from decade-long coma

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia 76ers Chairman Ed Snider surprised doctors and his family earlier this week when he miraculously awoke from a nearly decade-long coma. Immediately after regaining consciousness, the chairman fired long time Sixers GM Billy King. “I can’t believe you guys didn’t get rid of him years ago,” an alert Snider told Sixers front office employees. “Have you looked at some of these moves? How could you let him give Kenny Thomas a long term deal? Are you freaking nuts?” As news of King’s firing spread around the league, rival general managers told SSNN that they’ll miss dealing with him. “Billy was the best to trade with, hands down,” Sacramento GM Geoff Petrie said. “Anyone stup– err… kind enough to take Chris Webber off our hands will always be a friend. We thought Billy was joking when we made that deal.” While Snider has yet to make any additional moves, many believe head coach Maurice Cheeks could be the next to go.
