BATON ROUGE, LA — College football coach Les Miles announced Saturday that he will coach both the Louisiana State University Tigers and the University of Michigan Wolverines during the 2008 season. He will be replacing Lloyd Carr, who is retiring following twelve seasons in Ann Arbor.

“I said I was staying put, and I meant it,” said Miles. “We’re building a strong program here at LSU and I honestly feel that no team in the nation will be able to touch us on our way to another national championship next year. And I’m also ready to take on the challenge of returning my alma mater back to prominence. Oh, and there’s no reason that the Wolverines will not be National Champions in 2008.”

Miles led the Tigers to an 11-2 record, the SEC title, and an appearance in the upcoming BCS National Championship game this season. A University of Michigan alum, he played for and then was an assistant coach under the late Bo Schembechler, whom he has admittedly patterned his coaching style after. Sources close to Miles say that coaching the Wolverines someday was, “a dream job for him.”

Despite being ranked fifth during the pre-season, Michigan suffered an embarrassing opening-game loss to Appalachian State, followed by a blowout loss to Oregon in their second game. They tumbled out of the polls, and ultimately Carr announced his resignation at the season’s conclusion.

“I am honored to be taking over for Mr. Carr and I think that his amazing record speaks for itself,” said Miles, adorned in an LSU hat and Michigan sweatshirt. “This new era will be a blending of philosophies, but the fact that Tigers and Wolverines are both vicious, carnivorous animals will only make this transition that much easier.”
