SAN ANTONIO, TX — The San Antonio Spurs have placed Manu Ginobili on the inactive list after the All-Star guard was involved in a violent flopping incident against the Clippers last week. “Right now the team doctors are calling him day to day,” Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich told SSNN. “But judging by the way he crashed to the floor on that flop, I’d be surprised to have him back before the New Year.” The 6′6″ Ginobili has been a staple of the Spurs organization since his NBA debut, and was a significant contributor on three of the team’s four championship squads in the last decade. “Whether it’s starting or coming off the bench, Manu is invaluable to us,” Spurs PG Tony Parker said. “It’s tough to see a teammate go down like that. I mean, it’s normal to see him go down in a flop, but to go down with injury – that’s tough.” While the Argentine sensation has long been considered one of the leagues most versatile offensive threats, Ginobili has also received his fair share of criticism for flopping on the defensive end of the floor. “The guy’s a joke,” said Phoenix forward Shawn Marion. “Who the hell injures themselves diving backwards on purpose?”
