Pirates hire top-rated MLB 2K7 gamer as GM

PITTSBURGH, PA — Hoping to find their own version of Theo Epstein, the Pittsburgh Pirates hired 17-year-old Chris Lengefeld, the number one rated MLB 2K7 gamer, as general manager of the organization. “General managers are getting younger and younger these days,” Pirates CEO Kevin McClatchy told SSNN. “We followed Chris’ season on MLB 2K7 this year and were blown away with the moves he made. The kid is a prodigy with numbers.” Lengefeld, a high school senior, successfully managed the Pirates to back-to-back World Series Championships on his Xbox 360 this year. “Nobody can touch me. I’ll bet you a hundo right now I can get Jason Bay hitting .300 by next year,” a confident Lengefeld said. “I can’t wait to re-work that rotation. I got mad skills and the Pirates know it.” In a league filled with $100 million payrolls, the Pirates have struggled to compete in the smaller Pittsburgh market. “We brought Chris in because we think he can do less with more better than anyone else,” said Pirates Chairman Bob Nutting. “What he did on MLB 2K7 is nothing short of genius.”
