TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama head coach Nick Saban discovered things can indeed go from bad to worse following his team’s loss to LSU on Saturday.
Reports out of Tuscaloosa revealed that an LSU fan “accidentally” barbecued Saban’s beloved Rottweiler, “Skip” during tailgating festivities before the game.
“Just an honest mistake, I swear,” said LSU fan Beau Fontenot. “He must have jumped into the smoker when nobody was lookin’. I feel terrible about it. Seriously.”
Tensions between LSU fans and Saban were elevated this season after Saban took the head coaching position of SEC rival Alabama. After leading LSU to the 2004 BCS title, Saban left for the NFL before returning to the college ranks.
“Something just doesn’t smell right,” Alabama booster Chuck Cummings told SSNN upon learning of the K-9 tragedy. “It’s one thing to hate a man, but to cook up his dog just ain’t right.”
LSU fans continue to maintain their innocence in the matter, and chalked it up to Skip just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“Sure, we hate Saban the traitor, but to accuse us of killing his dog is insulting,” said one LSU fan who refused to be quoted by name. “We’re not Ohio State fans.”
