Hawaii A.D. offers free trips to Honolulu for BCS berth

HONOLULU, HI — Representatives from the five BCS bowl games will think long and hard about extending an invitation to Colt Brennan and the Hawaii Rainbows. On Wednesday, University of Hawaii athletic director Herman Frazier offered a first class plane ticket and hotel accommodation to every Bowl Championship Series executive.

“It’s not a bribe,” Frazier said. “I want to make that clear. This is NOT a bribe. I encourage all schools to do this. If the Kansas A.D. wants to invite the BCS guys to beautiful Lawrence – by all means, go ahead.”

The Rainbow football team has thrived this year on their way to a 9-0 record. Unfortunately, the undefeated Rainbows are currently ranked only sixteenth in the BCS poll, making an elite bowl invitation unlikely.

“Those plane tickets are good for the whole family,” Frazier told SSNN. “If a BCS exec needs to bring his sister, mother-in-law, babysitter or girlfriend to Hawaii, we can make that happen.”

It’s unclear how much influence a free trip to Hawaii will have on the executives, but Hawaii QB and Heisman candidate Colt Brennan is hoping for the best. “It was 85 and sunny today,” Brennan said. “Come out to the islands. We’ve got a mai-tai with an umbrella that has your name on it. You won’t regret it.”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
