Greg Oden crushes his NBA debut
PORTLAND–Greg Oden is not one who is shy about entrances.
Oden made his NBA debut on Tuesday night, and though Portland lost, his impact was immediately felt as he sat at the end of the bench, cheering for his teammates.
“Oden totally changed the nature of our cheering section,” said Nate McMillan, coach of the Portland Trailblazers. “He fills the middle. He sat there between Josh McRoberts and Darius Miles and he really clogged the middle. Totally changed the course of the game. It was unbelievable.”
Oden finished with four high-fives, and one “attaway kid!” He also showed his rookie inexperience by accidentally cheering for a dunk by Tim Duncan before catching himself.
Other players agreed that Oden’s impact was huge. “He’s got some stuff to learn, but that guy made an impact from the get-go,” said Brandon Roy. “Amazing. He’s going to be changing the way that benches cheer in this city for a long time.”
