With the Los Angeles Galaxy’s hiring of Ruud Gullit as their coach, SSNN revisits a classic story from August 2007.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Just over a month after his much-heralded arrival in Los Angeles, David Beckham took a moment to give SSNN an update on how he’s adjusting to his new surroundings and his recent retirement from professional soccer.

Sitting on the back porch and gazing at the incredible view of downtown Los Angeles, Beckham seemed relaxed and happy with his new life of leisure. When he isn’t hobnobbing with celebrities or shopping in trendy boutiques with his wife, Beckham has been trying to stay active.

“My agent set me up with this local semi-pro club called the LA Galaxy – I think it’s a bunch of college kids or something. I practice with the team and play if I want, but mostly just chill on the bench.”

Beckham went on to explain that a professional athlete can often have trouble facing the end of his career, but being able to stay in the game at an amateur level has helped ease the transition. And regular exercise has helped him keep in shape for his various acting auditions.

“Being in LA has put me in the position to dedicate most of my time and energy to my acting career. And Victoria is obsessed with getting in US Weekly, so we end up spending half the week walking around where their photographers are camped out. Regardless of the task, it’s good to have new goals now that I’m completely done with professional soccer.”
