BRISTOL, CT — This week, the Guinness Book of World Records notified ESPN that the fan forum on their popular ESPN.com website had set the record for most blatantly obvious statements made in one day. “What an honor,” SportsCenter anchor Kenny Mayne dead-panned to reporters. Frequent users of the fan forum were quick to take credit for the record. “Did you see the post that said, ‘I feel so bad for LeBron. He’s gonna face triple teams all year cuz he’s so good’? I wrote that!” sports fan Alex LaFazia bragged. “And you know what, I was right!” The fan forum was created by ESPN to encourage fans to share their thoughts about sports. Recent obvious statements have included, “As boring as I find Tim Duncan, I have to admit the guy is an All Star,” from Ethan Hunter751; and “The Red Sox are champs because they were better than the Rockies,” courtesy of BG42. ESPN credits their lack of editorial oversight for the award, and network officials expect more accolades to come.

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
