BCS releases playoff schedule as practical joke

NEW YORK, NY — In a classless act of taunting that enraged college football fans everywhere, the BCS released an eight team playoff bracket this week as a practical joke.

“We really had you guys going,” BCS Coordinator Mike Slive told a group of reporters. “You should have seen some of your faces when you realized we were just messing around. Absolutely priceless.”

Slive has frequently angered fans with his refusal to even discuss a college football playoff format. Rubbing it in even further, Slive added, “We’ll get right on that playoff deal… just as soon as Steve Spurrier starts showing some modesty.”

Since its inception in 1998, the BCS has been the center of controversy. Without a playoff system to determine the national champion, fans of slighted teams often ask themselves if they could have competed for the national title under different circumstances.

“All those big conference AD’s care about is money,” Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan told SSNN. “We’re undefeated and have no shot at the national championship because they’ll screw us just like they do all the other small schools.”

This year, the parity in college football along with the lack of a true dominant team has only increased the calls for a playoff.

“Playoffs? Playoffs?” Slive laughed, doing his best Jim Mora impersonation. “Fuhgettaboutit.”
