Arenas ready to play after excess ego drained from knee

WASHINGTON, D.C. –- For the second time in three weeks, Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas had to have excess ego removed from his knee. “Gil had a little extra ego that was piling up since the season started,” Wizards head coach Eddie Jordan told SSNN. “Since he ran his mouth and we’ve been winless, the team doctor thought now was a good time to get it all drained out.” Arenas has failed to live up to expectations this season, after criticizing everyone from Kobe to Commissioner David Stern. Considered a playoff team in the East, the Wizards have struggled so far, dropping their first five games. “You can’t change who Gilbert is,” teammate Antawn Jamison said. “But every once in awhile, it’s good to bring him back down to earth, reduce the ego and start from square one.” Arenas declined to speak to reporters following the procedure, but a spokesman for the All-Star told reporters that he is ready to get back on the court no matter how much ego remains.
