Pierce: new Celtics “too intense”

BOSTON, MA — Though the preseason is nary a couple of weeks old, the grumbling has already started in Boston, led by veteran Paul Pierce.

“This team has gotten way too intense, man,” Pierce told a reporter from SSNN late Friday after a two-and-a-half-hour practice. “It used to be that we’d just sort of show up and play, win a couple games, lose some, you know, have a little fun, put the ball in the air. Things have changed around here, though, and it ain’t for the better.”

The arrival of newcomers Kevin Garnett, widely considered to be one of the league’s top talents, and Ray Allen, one of the league’s finest outside shooters, has the Celtics thinking championship in 2008.

The newfound intensity is led by Garnett, whose sterling NBA resume includes MVP awards and amazing statistics, but no titles and only one playoff series victory. READ MORE …

1. Um, only one playoff series victory? How does one get from 1st round to the Western Conference finals with only one series victory? LOL

   I am thinking this as usual is taken out of context like most media is. If not Pierce needs to get some work ethic. What has those previous practices where less hard work got him? Nowhere. As usual the media is trying to start descention.
