Les Miles admits he doesn’t follow LSU games all that closely

BATON ROUGE, LA — Given a week to break down his team’s comeback victory over Auburn, LSU head coach Les Miles told reporters that, “I don’t really follow the games all that closely. That’s what coordinators are for.” College football fans watched in amazement as Miles neglected to call his final timeout and go for the win as the clock ticked down, dangerously close to expiration. “To be honest, I thought we were out of timeouts,” Miles said in a press conference after LSU’s off week. Armchair quarterbacks have applauded Miles’ play calling in recent weeks as the outspoken head coach has repeatedly chosen to go for it in fourth-and-short situations. But LSU’s clock management in the final minute against Auburn appeared to be less about confidence in the team and more about losing track of what was happening on the field. “Our stadium is so loud. It’s like a rock concert out there,” Miles bragged. “The noise of the crowd, the smell of the barbeque in the parking lot… sometimes it’s hard to stay focused.”
