Hurdle: Red Sox are “really good”

DENVER, CO — After getting swept out of the World Series, manager Clint Hurdle of the Colorado Rockies told media members that, “these Boston Red Sox are really good.” Hurdle, who seemed somewhat dazed by the display on the diamond that he’d just witnessed, continued: “I mean, wow, they really are good. Really, really good.” Hurdle admitted in a post-game interview that, prior to Game One, he wasn’t really aware of just how good the players in the Boston dugout were. “We hadn’t heard much about the Red Sox; I guess they’ve sort of flown under the radar all year. I mean, there’s really not been much said about them in the national media and I think we were guilty of just assuming that they were pretty much like all the National League teams we’ve been playing all year.” Hurdle later acknowledged that the Red Sox were clearly better than most – if not all – of the teams the Rockies had faced this year. “I mean, wow. They’re better than Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, and probably even better than Milwaukee.”
