Houston on comeback: “Totally unsuccessful basketball-wise, but great cardio”

NEW YORK, NY — After last week’s attempt at rejoining the New York Knicks failed, shooting guard Allan Houston chose to look at the bright side of things. “From a basketball perspective, you could say it was a total failure. But it was great getting back on the court and working up a sweat.” Since retiring from the Knicks following the 2004-05 season, Houston has bided his time with trips to Vegas, playing X-Box 360 and various philanthropic endeavors. “To be perfectly honest, I hadn’t picked up a basketball in awhile. To be even more blunt, I hadn’t run more than twenty yards in over a year. So in that sense, my comeback with the Knicks was a great way to get my cardio on, you know what I mean?” Once considered to be an elite NBA athlete, Houston has had little desire to perform physical activities; and who could blame him?  In 2001, Houston signed a six year contract worth approximately $100 million. “Life after basketball has been good to me,” Houston told SSNN.  “I’m not going to rule out another comeback attempt. This past couple weeks reminded me how much I enjoyed a good cardiovascular workout.”
