Archie Manning implores reporters to consider exchange rate when evaluating Eli’s statistics

LONDON, ENGLAND — After the New York Giants defeated the Miami Dolphins 13-10 on Sunday, former NFL quarterback Archie Manning implored reporters to consider the current exchange rate before they evaluated his son’s passing statistics. “Let me just say this, Eli’s stats may not seem impressive at first glance, but you have to remember this game was played in London, which is in England. They do things differently over here.” Manning’s youngest son finished the day with rather pedestrian numbers; he completed 8 of 22 passes and totaled only 59 yards through the air. He did not throw a touchdown pass. “Some might say that 8 out of 22 isn’t much, but what you have to take into consideration is how much one completion is worth over here. One completion here is worth almost two in the states. So you all should probably be commending my son’s 72 percent completion rate and 118 yard performance yesterday.” When asked if he had talked to Commissioner Roger Goodell about the possibility of Eli playing his future games in Germany, where the exchange rate against the US dollar is even higher, the elder Manning refused to comment. He did, however, respond that “Peyton’s game would have been sick if they’d have played it in Liverpool. Bollocks!”
