Texans draft 0-2 record

HOUSTON, TX — In a rare move on Monday, the Houston Texans drafted an 0-3 record, even though they had the option of keeping their 2-1 record or dropping to 1-2. The Texans are the first NFL team in more than 60 years to use the little known post-Week 3 record draft.

“We have a plan, and regardless of what happens on that field, we’re sticking to it,” said Texans owner Bob McNair. “I don’t know about you, but my mom didn’t raise a quitter.”

Critics are quick to point out the similarities between this move and the 2006 draft, but McNair said the two have nothing to do with each other.

“People just automatically assume that these draft picks are mistakes, but I would caution them to wait and see how this turns out,” he said.

McNair said he felt the team had too much momentum and confidence going into preparations for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons – after a competitive battle with the Colts – and that this move should “keep them grounded.”

Texans fan Lenny Mendoza, 30, is skeptical but said that he has faith in the team’s front office.

“Everyone said that David Carr was going to be great and look how that turned out,” he said. “If they tell me that 0-3 is better than 2-1, as a season-ticket holder I have to give them the benefit of the doubt.”
