BRISTOL, CT — The ratings for ESPN’s Town Hall Meeting: The Vick Divide are in, and station president George Bodenheimer is thrilled, calling it a resounding success.

“We had about 35 or 36 viewers for the town meeting, give or take a couple of people. And that doesn’t even include the crowd that actually attended the event,” Bodenheimer said. “This is fantastic – a huge jump from the ratings we’ve been getting from our regular Tuesday night programming, World Series of Poker reruns.”

Jim Arnold, 26, of Kyle, Texas, said that he watched the town meeting and was impressed with the serious and in-depth discussion the program provided.

“If there’s one thing that ESPN has been lacking, it’s Michael Vick coverage,” Arnold said. “This is great. Even though it’s months after the story broke, I really appreciate them bringing it up again. They just gained a lifetime viewer.”

According to Bodenheimer, response like Arnold’s has him wondering if the 24-hour sports network should have more town meetings. He said he has already looked into hiring a ridiculously expensive announcing crew with absolutely no chemistry, and he will soon start generating a list of topics.

“I don’t know… off the top of my head, we could do a town meeting about Pacman Jones; we certainly haven’t explored that situation enough,” he said. “Or maybe even a town meeting about the Patriots cheating – we haven’t heard about that in days. What good is a story if you can’t beat it into the ground?”
