Guerrero’s credit near-perfect

ANAHEIM, CA — Word emerged late Tuesday that slugging outfielder Vladimir Guerrero has nearly flawless credit, according to an unnamed source within the Angels organization.

“Vlad is thinking about buying a home in the area,” the official stated, noting that Guerrero has basically been staying in hotels and on friends’ couches since arriving in California five years ago. “He saw some commercial on TV saying that you should know your credit score before you go to buy a house, so he asked us to run it. 780. Can you believe it? Me neither.”

According to reports, Guerrero primarily uses his Southwest Airlines Visa card, and he pays the balance in full virtually every month. He also has several other credit cards and an installment loan on his car. In the past four years, the Angels’ outfielder only has two delinquent payments, and one of them, according to Guerrero, was not his fault.

“I gave my Discover bill to a hotel clerk in Cleveland,” Guerrero said. “I had a stamp on it, the right address, everything. Well, lo and behold, two weeks later I get a call. I was furious, but Disco gave me the benefit of the doubt… You know, since I’m such a good customer and all.”

The Angels official also reports that Guerrero has his eye on a nice town-home just outside of Anaheim, and that he should easily qualify for financing at a very low interest rate. “I think the place is like $300k,” the official said. “Vlad should be able to get in there at 6.5 percent or so; more if he can make a big down-payment.”

It’s going to be tough for this sport to sweep any nations, but it’s still pretty frickin’ cool!
