Rivera blowing games deliberately

NEW YORK, NY — Mariano Rivera, after yet another bad outing, told a gathered group of media around his locker that he has blown these last few games “on purpose.” Why? Because he thinks it’s funny when people blame A-Rod.

“Yeah, I’ve blown a couple games this year on purpose – especially lately. I think it’s great when we lose and the whole city blames Alex,” Rivera said. “I mean, let’s be honest: we’re probably not gonna make the playoffs anyway, and no matter what I do people will love me. I just crack up when everyone else blows goats and our lost season gets put on Alex’s shoulders… Hilarious!”

Rodriguez is no stranger to Rivera’s twisted sense of humor, and has grown accustomed to being the butt of jokes both in the clubhouse and around the city of New York.

“Oh, I’m aware of it. I think it’s pretty funny, too,” the MVP-candidate slugger told SSNN. “Sometimes before games we sit down as a team and plan it. I do think Derek gets a little too into it sometimes. That makes me sad.”

Yankees owner George Steinbrenner had no comment, because apparently he just doesn’t care anymore.
