Vick named honorary PETA member

ATLANTA, GA — Citing an “ability to create interest in the organization and drive membership that is heretofore unparalleled,” People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals officially made Michael Vick an honorary member late Friday, in a private ceremony on Peach Tree Street, in Atlanta.

“In the entire history of our organization, nobody – athlete, celebrity, or otherwise – has been able to create interest like Michael Vick,” said PETA President John Murphy. “Our phones have been ringing absolutely off the hook since Michael started his much-publicized awareness campaign about the dangers of fighting »”>dog fighting. We applaud him for his efforts and hope that he continues his campaign.”

Indeed, Vick does seem to be almost the perfect PETA member. Not only has he managed to keep the organization in the news, but he is also spreading their message across many different forms of media. Further, he is seemingly willing to go to jail to get the word out, another feather in his PETA cap.

When told of the honor, Vick had no comment, but his brother Marcus Vick, speaking on his behalf, thanked PETA for the award and vowed that the Vick family will continue to raise awareness for the organization.

“We ain’t gonna stop what we doin’,” Marcus said, a stance that was applauded by the organization when it was relayed to them.

“This is a fine family,” Murphy said. “We are proud to call them PETA members.”
