Tour de France cyclist allegedly riding clean

FRANCE — Italian cyclist Enrico Degano has faced scrutiny from the Italian press for apparently not using performance enhancing drugs to aid his performance in the Tour de France. Degano is currently in last place in the tour, over 25 minutes behind leader Fabian Cancellara.

The Italian press is accusing Degano of shaming the nation of Italy with his performances, and not giving maximum effort towards achieving success in the race. They point towards the numerous cyclists found to be doping, and believe that Degano’s lack of results is due to inferior chemical tampering.

Claudio Corti, general manager of Degano’s Barloworld team, has issued a statement assuring the media and fans that every effort to give Degano the proper regimen of performance enhancing drugs has been made. Corti is also reportedly pursuing a lawsuit against the manufacturers of the EPO given to Degano prior to and during the first few stages of the race.

Team leader and fellow Barloworld cyclist Alexander Efimkin has assured supporters of the team that every effort will be made to provide Degano with only the highest quality performance enhancers.
