New racing organization to debut Saturday
LEXINGTON, KY — Here in the heart of horse racing, a new kind of race is about to begin: dogs riding horses. But these aren’t just any dogs and horses, no; these are mini-dogs riding mini-horses. In what could possibly be the funniest and cutest competiton ever, 12 horse-riding small-breed dogs will jump out of the gates at 1:00 PM Saturday. At a press conference late Thursday, race promoter and owner of the DRHA (Dogs Riding Horses Association) Mikah Wilson said the sport is “sooooo cute!!! This is going to be the best horse race ever!” After a half hour of similarly glowing and unhelpful commentary from Wilson, the questions stopped and the media dispersed. This is a first for the horse racing community, but probably won’t be the last. Wilson said she is also considering running races with mini-horses riding regular horses, but has yet to figure out how to attach the smaller equines to their full-sized counterparts.
