Nash starting “gun” tour

PHOENIX, AZ — After their disappointing Game 5 loss, Phoenix Suns’ superstar guard Steve Nash commented to Craig Sager that he has been working on his guns – most assumed the quip was merely a joke, but the two-time MVP insists that is not the case. The Suns point guard told SSNN that he plans on spending this summer with his latest project, a traveling weight-lifting exhibition dubbed “Stevie’s Gun Show.”

“The Horry incident just lit a fire inside of me,” Nash said. “It made me realize that people are after me, and I’m going to have to be able to take care of myself.”

Nash said that he will be competing in the lightweight division, but there will also be a heavyweight division. The four-month tour will cover most of the United States as well as Nash’s native South Africa and Canada, where he grew up.

While Nash has asked a number of other NBA players to join the Gun Show, he has not received any concrete commitments yet. His close friend Dirk Notwitzki rejected an invitation, instead electing to spend his summer sulking. Hall of Famer Charles Barkley is said to be attending the Las Vegas stop, as he will likely be in town anyway.

“I haven’t invited any Spurs, because they would probably just cheat,” Nash said. “Anyway, they’re pretty boring so it would be a hard sell. I can’t have any of my teammates participate either, because they lift weights like they play ball – fast and sloppy. I’m hoping maybe Carlos Boozer will jump on board, but I don’t want to make any promises.”
